Champions Boxing calls all women looking to take control of their lives

Titled 'Champions Against GBV', the programme is aimed at providing support, opportunities and empowerment to women who wish to build courage, determination and resilience.

The sweet science of boxing has infinite benefits as a physical training regimen, but also offers countless mental and emotional benefits. Confidence, discipline, composure and courage all come through strict adherence to its principles.

Champions Boxing Council of South Africa is a registered NPO and civil society organisation that has been transforming lives since 1961 using sports, education and recreation as a vehicle to promote human and societal development. They are calling on women who have been affected negatively by gender-based violence to sign up for their free 10-week Women Empowerment Programme.

Titled ‘Champions Against GBV’, the programme is aimed at providing support, opportunities and empowerment to women who wish to build courage, determination and resilience. It takes a holistic approach to human development and well-being, and will empower females to reach the next level of success and prosperity in various areas of their lives. As candidates, they will have dedicated access to the fitness facility which specialises in boxing, self-defence and yoga classes.

There will be counsellors and an emotional support structure available to all candidates, and Champions will also provide career guidance, support and access to help attendees achieve their academic goals. Whether it’s studying, rewriting your matric, or online short courses, their programme will help you achieve your success. Candidates will benefit from expert entrepreneurship, business and financial planning coaching sessions that through a structured curriculum will take their business and personal financial goals to the next level.

The seven day a week programme will feature four days of facilitated face-to-face sessions hosted at Champions Boxing Council Centre of Excellence and Human Development, with the remaining three days requiring self-study through the online system. Starting on 10 October and running through to 18 December, applications are now open, and will close on 21 September. More information can be found at championsboxing.org.
