Latest Covid-19 parkrun update
According to parkrun Global, whilst it continues to be a turbulent time in so many places, they are seeing encouraging signs.
The positive parkrun update communicated by parkrun Global confirmed that parkrun events took place in Australia, New Zealand, and the Falkland Islands on Saturday 3 October.
The events saw nearly 3 000 people walking, jogging, running or volunteering across 29 locations.
In further positive news, this coming weekend, parkrun Global is delighted to welcome back all five events in Auckland as restrictions in New Zealand’s capital are lifted.
Parkruns will be reopening in another 93 locations across the Australian state of Tasmania, and Poland on 17 October – at this point there will be well over 100 live parkrun events around the world.
Before the end of October, possibly on 24 October, it is expected that all Japanese events will reopen followed by Western Australia, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man, on 31 October.
While national and local restrictions permit events to return in both Guernsey and the Isle of Man, given both locations are easily accessible from the rest of the UK, parkrun Global is mindful of the possible negative impact of significant parkrun tourism at this time.
For this reason, the return in Guernsey and the Isle of Man will begin as a four-week pilot, where the situation will be monitored and a response will be available if required.
According to parkrun Global, whilst it continues to be a turbulent time in so many places, they are seeing encouraging signs.
As more locations open up, it’s encouraging to see the parkrun family getting back on its feet, as people come together once more to be active and social in the great outdoors.
