Ladies rugby teams receive new equipment

The sponsorship consists of jerseys, warm-up kits, shorts, socks, pole protectors, tackle bags and yield shield.

Sponsoring a local team is not only a great way to get involved with the community, but it is also an opportunity for local businesses to engage in a form of marketing for their business.

As sporting teams go out to honour their season fixtures, they will play against a number of teams in different areas.

On Tuesday, 2 March the Roodepoort Rugby Club handed over a kit to the SAPS Ladies Rugby team and the Roodepoort RC Ladies team respectively at Scorpion Park. Both teams are sponsored by MasterCard.

Scorpion Park is the new home of Roodepoort Rugby Club, the SA Police Rugby Club and Roodepoort Scorpions (Bobbies RC).

The sponsorship consists of jerseys, warm-up kits, shorts, socks, pole protectors, tackle bags and yield shields.

Earlier in February the Roodepoort RC Ladies representative, Althea Herman received a personally signed book from author Hankie Vogel.

Ladies rugby started way before 2020 and the club has the information in their club house for anybody interested in the history going as far back as 1881.

According to Roodepoort Rugby Club Chairman, Mathys Booyens, MasterCard sponsors all the open clubs’ ladies rugby teams.

“This year Gauteng SAPS ladies will play as the Roodepoort A side, and their B team will be the B side, with both teams sponsored by MasterCard.

“It is a very big cash injection into ladies rugby that MasterCard gave to the clubs, and what’s good about this is that both sides are now fully kitted and given the necessary injection to grow,” said Mathys.
