Florida Albion tests preseason strategies against Panorama FC

Friendlies at Trezona Park lined up for coming weeks until RCLFA season starts

With a tweak here and a tinkering there, a fine-tuning of the engine is needed before opening the throttle.

As the dawn of new Rand Central Local Football Association (RCLFA) season begins to break, Florida Albion Football Club (FAFC) are putting their training ground ideas to practice. FAFC welcomed Panorama Football Club to Trezona Park for an all-age group showdown on Saturday, 24 April. The day was a barometer of preseason preparations and a chance to identify areas that still needed attention.

Several weeks ago on 10 April, FAFC held a festival-styled training camp that gave coaches an opportunity to test various techniques and assess the talent they had at their disposal. “Florida Albion is a great asset to the community and the soccer festival was a great opportunity to showcase development in football for kids. The little league players in particular were overjoyed at being back on the fields, and we received positive feedback from all in attendance,” said Albion’s Rashaad Gangat.

Early signs for a successful season are positive as the free-scoring little league teams recorded an undefeated set of results. The first notable defeat was the U/13A team who suffered a 3–1 loss, with the senior team going down by the same scoreline later in the day. Highlights included a 7–2 win for the U/15s and a similarly impressive 6–1 win for the U/17s.

“A special thank you to our director of coaching, Tshepang Mohapi and to the parents for supporting FAFC; it is greatly appreciated as it is for the betterment of our community. Thanks to the staff for their hard work – the hard work most certainly does not go unnoticed,” said chairperson, Noleen Isaacs.

A few more friendlies are scheduled before the real test of competition gets under way later in May.
