Queen of Blackball in SA hails from Weltevreden Park
Just before her final match in the 2021 South African Ladies Blackball Championships, Michelle told herself that she would just have fun because she knew that she had prepared herself for the moment and all that was left was to show her mettle.
The ladies and masters category of the 2021 South African Ladies Blackball championship kick-started with a bang and saw Michelle Rabe from Weltevreden Park crowned the 2021 South African Ladies Blackball champion.
The Fourways High School Geography teacher also has Protea colours in both 8-ball and Blackball pool, and is a member of the reigning Ladies 8-ball World Championship team.
According to Michelle, her husband used to play a little bit of pool and participated in a social league in Fourways, which is how she got involved in the game.
“Michelle has been working hard and to up her game she was even competing in the premier division of Pool SA, which is normally only played by guys.
“She gave a good account of herself and administered a lot of pain to guys who did not take her seriously,” said the CEO of South African Blackball Federation (SABF), Sbu Dladla.

“Stubbornness and passion will always prevail for those whole-heartedly invested in their dreams.
“I must mention that there are so many amazing mentors who have helped me grow, and for that I am super grateful.
“Thank you for investing your time and energy in our beloved sport. There are few communities where so many cultures and creeds unite, and I can honestly say that pool is definitely such a community. I am so excited to see it grow,” said Michelle.
The official Blackball Pool Authority in South Africa is affiliated to the South African Pool Union, which is a registered member of the All Africa Pool Association.
