Honeydew Police dish out a football lesson

The match opened up in the second half with both sides making some changes and launching convoys of attacks along the wings.

Wednesday, October 20 saw the Masters League Stream 2 fixture between Honeydew Police and South West Gauteng College (SWGC) Masters provide the expected fireworks as the two sides met for the first time at Boskop Primary School, Honeydew.

Both teams took extra caution in the first few minutes of the match with very few attacks initiated by the two first time opponents.

The high defensive press of SWGC Masters backline proved to be ineffective when both of their central defenders misjudged a long ball that was collected by a Honeydew Police striker who buried the ball in the back of the net with precision.

The law enforcers had their opponents’ defence caught in shambles once again after some neat touches and interplay from the midfield and attackers that resulted in another goal for the home side.

The third goal followed after a defensive error by a SWGC Masters defender, who put the ball past his own goalkeeper after failing to clear the ball.

Both coaches had a lot to say at the half-hour mark as both sides needed to pull up their socks in order to secure the much-needed three points.

SWGC Masters scored two goals through the boot of Ofentse Kau and Lebona Mako, but that was not enough as the men in blue added another four goals to make the final score 7–2 to the hosts.

Honeydew Police take on City of Joburg EMS in the next fixture, while SWGC Masters will attempt to get back to their winning ways when they square up against Unisa.
