Local Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner one of two black belts in the West Rand
He was presented with the honour of black belt by Wiekus Swart, who is among the most highly recognised BJJ practitioner in the country.
Cassim Binks who is the director of Fight24 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Roodepoort participated in a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) grading that was held on Sunday, December 4 at the WSG Academy in Randpark.

After getting an invite to participate, he graded to black belt which is an achievement that took him 15 years to accomplish making him one of only two BJJ black belts in the entire West Rand.
BJJ is among the most effective and fun self-defence martial arts which focuses on giving smaller individuals the ability to overcome bigger and stronger opponents through specific techniques.


Fight24 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Roodepoort is a new fast and growing BJJ academy which opened in September this year.
Cassim has been training for approximately 16 years in martial arts and previously held a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt.

According to Cassim, unlike other martial arts, a BJJ black belt takes between 10 to 20 years to achieve.
“It was an extremely challenging grading and took more than two hours off combat simulation in which you have to fight through multiple opponents,” explained Cassim.
He was presented with the honour of black belt by Wiekus Swart, who is among the most highly recognised BJJ practitioner in the country.
