Tennis clinic in Ruimsig helps keep kids fit during school holidays
Padel Lab collaborated with Parau Tennis Academy to keep youngsters busy during the holidays.
During the school holidays, on July 3 and 4, local children were invited to a Kids Clinic hosted at Ruimsig Country Club, where they were able to hone their tennis skills.
According to the coaches, Donovan and Dillan Parau and Zinel Krynauw, the clinic focused on teaching the youngsters different techniques when playing a padel tennis match. The clinic usually lasts from 10:00 to 12:00.

“I would describe padel tennis as a mixture of tennis and squash,” explained Krynauw. She added that this holiday’s clinic was filled with children who attend their academy. However, she hopes future clinics will involve a variety of children from the community who are interested in padel tennis.

“The great thing about this is we teach the kids everything they need to know to participate. This is ideal for beginners and since it spans over days rather than just one day, this means that as they progress in the court, we can teach them different techniques.”

The group usually gets split up into the two courts – one for the beginners who haven’t played padel tennis before and then the other for those with a bit more experience, as they often need a bigger challenge to stay engaged.
