On Saturday, March 15, the Roodepoort parkrun kicked off with 549 participants eager to tackle the 5km route.

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities took part, from seasoned athletes to families and beginners. The sense of community was palpable, with strangers becoming friends and offering words of encouragement.
The event was also filled with a lot of milestones and personal bests with Kaylee Jansen proudly completing her 300th run.

The race was won by Kgothatso Mailula with an impressive time of 21:00 closely followed by Munyaradzi Hluyo with 21:06. Maryna Bijker and Eva Carson were once again top finishers in the female category.
The event had a festive feel, with cowbells and cheers from volunteers and spectators. As finishers crossed the line, exhausted but exhilarated, the sense of accomplishment was clear proving once again why it’s a favourite among enthusiasts.

The Roodepoort parkrun takes place every Saturday at 08:00 at Len Rutter Park in Florida Park.
The event is free; all you have to do is register on www.parkrun.co.za, print out your barcode and you are ready to become part of the parkrun community.
