Megan shines at Level 3 swimming regionals

Her journey is a testament to what can be achieved with passion and perseverance as she continues to make waves.

Ruimsig — Crawford International Ruimsig is bursting with pride as one of its young athletes continues to make a name for herself in the swimming world.

Grade Seven learner Megan Palmer recently made a splash at the Swimming South Africa Level 3 Regionals held at the renowned TuksSport Swimming Pool Complex in Pretoria.

Representing her school and club with passion and precision, Megan delivered a standout performance, swimming personal bests in every event she entered.

Her determination and skill were rewarded when she qualified for the finals in both the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle events. In the 100m backstroke, she narrowly missed the final, securing a reserve finalist spot.

But it was in the 50m backstroke final that Megan truly made waves. Ranked fifth going into the race, she pushed herself to the limit, finishing strong and earning a well-deserved bronze medal – a remarkable achievement at such a competitive level.

Adding to her list of accomplishments, Megan also clocked new Level 3 qualifying times in both the 100m freestyle (1:13.82, well under the 1:14.82 qualifying standard) and the 100m backstroke (1:23.62, comfortably below the 1:26.78 benchmark).

“Megan’s hard work, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her sport are truly inspiring,” said the school’s client experience officer, Lindsay van Boven.
