The gathering took place at the scenic Kloofendal Nature Reserve, drawing club members, families, and friends together to celebrate the athletes embarking on the more than 85km epic journey from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.
According to club chairperson Gangatha Mkhele, the club is proud to be represented by six novice runners, each taking on their very first Comrades.
“Their inclusion marks a significant milestone in both their personal journeys and the club’s growing legacy,” he says.
Club captain Maritagane Mapheto led the event with a heartfelt tribute to the dedication of both the athletes and the support crew. She presented each participating runner and support member with a customised Comrades jacket.
“Thank you to everyone who came through to celebrate our runners. Best wishes to all our runners. Go well, and know that Panorama Running Club is behind you every step of the way,” Maritagane said.
As the runners enter their last days of preparation, they remain uplifted by their community and family members who continue to support them. The club is hoping to bring home new milestones and hopefully top positions.
