Cheer squad wins national spotlight

Their supporters continue to root for them and believe they will make an everlasting impression on the international stage.

Skye College’s cheerleading team, known as The Reigns Cheerleading Squad, made their schooling community proud by winning top honours at the National Cheerleading Championships.

According to the school’s event and digital marketer, Anita Fourie, after months of hard work and dedication, the team earned the prestigious role of representing South Africa at the upcoming African Continental Cheerleading Championships.

The team competed in two categories, Primary All Girl Level and Primary Coed Level Three, and took first place in both divisions.

“Their effort was rewarded spectacularly,” Anita notes.

To achieve this success, Anita shares that while most were enjoying a well-deserved break during the school holidays, the cheerleaders were training daily to perfect their routine and push themselves to new levels.

“Their signature chant, ‘we came to reign and we’re not talking precipitation’, reflects the confidence and energy they bring to the floor.”

The team continues to prepare for the Continental Cheerleading Championships as they ready themselves to fly the country’s flag high. With the support of the school and community, the team is proud to represent their country.
