500th parkrun for Greame

Fairer weather recently saw parkrunners at Len Rutter Park put an extra spring in their step.

Roodepoort parkrun saw over 300 runners take to the course around Len Rutter Park on Saturday morning, August 9.

Fairer weather and even a tree here and there showing early spring blooms had runners in high spirits, pushing to better their previous records, or just enjoying the refreshing 5km run.

Third-place winner Kgothatso Mailula took the official first place since the top two runners were not registered for the event.

Runners were in good spirits and enjoyed the fairer weather.

Mailula finished in a personal best time of 20:03, followed by Jordan Daniels, also in a personal best time in 21:29.

Chris Jansen followed close on his heels, finishing in 21:31, more than a minute ahead of the next runners, Ayanda Dingile (23:03) and Jarod Snow (2:25).

As always, the four-footed family members ran along.

Maryna Bijker, the first woman over the finish line, completed the race in 24:02.

Saturday was a big day for longtime parkrunner Graeme Adamson, who managed to complete his 500th parkrun.
