Greefin Lowole wins spring parkrun

The Ruimsig parkrun welcomed spring with 386 enthusiastic runners lacing up their shoes to take on the challenge on Saturday morning, September 6.

Greefin Lowole lead the pack, crossing the finish line in 17 minutes and 17 seconds. Lufuno Mokgithu followed closely at a finish time of 18:39.

Jason Booysen clinched third place with a time of 20:20, and Caleb Smith and Caleb Vergie rounded off the top five finishers list with finishing times of 21:00 and 21: 31, respectively. Rotundwa Mokgothu, who clocked in his finish in 21:57, Tshepang Mokoena, who finished at 22:21, and Paul Schutte, who crossed the finish line in 23:07, made the list of other outstanding finishers.

The event was more about community spirit than just speed. The participants enjoyed the lively morning and the feeling that comes with competing in a group event, and the volunteers praised the event’s turnout.
