Swimming towards greatness

Another medal secured for Charter College swimmer in the African Aquatic Champs.

The future of swimming looks bright for young Eliecia Chivandire as she once again defied the odds by representing South Africa in the Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming and Open Water Championships 2025 in Eswatini.

This rising star has once again proven that talent, hard work, and determination know no limits. Competing against top swimmers, the Charter College International learner delivered an outstanding performance, cementing her place as one of the most promising young swimmers in the country. Elicia placed second in the 200m freestyle for the U13 and U14 category after leaving the crowd in awe.

Speaking to the Roodepoort Northsider, she mentioned that she looks forward to the school holidays because she can swim for fun but also squeeze in a little practice.

“Swimming has become more than just an extracurricular activity for me. I feel like I live in the water, and it is my happy place. I can’t wait to get back to competing, but for now I can relax and swim for fun,” she adds.
