Honeydew Bowling enjoys spooky bowls

The day brought everyone together for a frightfully memorable celebration.

The Honeydew Bowling Club celebrated a day filled with laughter, spooky decorations and fun at the clubhouse during their Halloween party.

Halloween, celebrated annually on October 31, has its origins in ancient customs honouring saints and remembering those who have passed on. Nowadays, it is widely recognised as a family-friendly day where people dress up in costumes, carve pumpkins and indulge in sweets.

To make the day even more special, Barbara Rickard and Ingrid Russouw spent hours shopping for Halloween decorations to turn the clubhouse into a terrifying paradise. The decorations were loved by everyone at the bowling club, proving that their hard work paid off.

The Halloween Bowls Competition was the highlight of the day. Instead of bowling to the usual jack, players aimed for a tiny pumpkin on the green. The trick was not to touch it or face a ‘trick or treat’. Yvonne Hands and Vanessa Pretorius bowled their way to victory and received pumpkin buckets full of treats as prizes, thanks to Barbara’s thoughtful touch.

There were prizes for best costumes, and Vanessa stole the show with her creative costume, winning the Best Dressed award. After the games, everyone enjoyed a cup of ‘witches brew’ and a hearty helping of spaghetti Bolognese. The children also enjoyed themselves, giggling as they tried to give everyone a little scare.
