Riders shine at equestrian nationals

The riders brought their best skills to the competition and continue to celebrate their success.

Riders from Glover Paddocks Equestrian Park made their mark at the 2025 South African National Schools Equestrian Association (Sanesa) National Championships, held at Kyalami Equestrian Park in October.
The team brought home four national champion titles and several top placings across different events.

A total of 30 Glover Paddocks riders were selected to represent the Gauteng National Team, showing the yard’s growing strength and talent. Owner and head coach Tasmin Maher said she was proud of her riders’ commitment and teamwork.

“Our riders have worked incredibly hard all year,” Maher said. “Their success comes from dedication, discipline, and love for the sport.”

Among the standout performances, Naledi Sennanye impressed in the Dressage Proficiency Test Off Lead category, placing sixth in Test Four and 11th in Test Five with her horse, Kondos Andraki II.

Jonathan and his horse, A2 Lila, also achieved excellent results. In the individual events, they placed second in In-Hand, third in Working Riding, and fifth in Working Hunter. Their team continued to perform exceptionally well, placing first three times and fourth twice in team competitions.

The Glover Paddocks riders’ impressive performance at the national competition was completed by Rosie Hall and Apollo’s Vision, who finished fourth in In-Hand Utility Level Two.

Top school riders from all around South Africa, including Gauteng, KZN, and the Western Cape, compete in the Sanesa Nationals. Riders must participate in many provincial rounds throughout the year to be eligible for the nationals.

This competition, for Glover Paddocks, was about more than just the results, but it was also about development, collaboration, and a love of the game. Coaches, parents and supporters praised the riders’ accomplishments, describing it as one of the yard’s best seasons yet.

Maher said the team is already preparing for next year’s competitions, aiming to continue developing young riders and keeping Glover Paddocks among the leading equestrian schools in the region.
