Prestige Football Development Academy hosted its annual prize-giving ceremony, bringing together parents, players, and staff members to recognise the hard work of the young soccer players for the 2025 season.

The event was held at Florida Lake on November 8, and saw players taking home prestigious trophies such as goalkeeper, defender, player and midfielder of the season, including top goal scorer, most improved players and chairman’s award for each division.

According to Sphamandla Mthethwa, head coach of the season, this year has been one for the books, as the club won a promotion to the Gauteng Development Promotion League (GDPL) in the U14 and U15 age groups, and they got promoted to participate in GDPL Stream A. He also noted that three players from the club were signed with Armania FC.

Mthethwa also added that the players had shown great commitment from the start of the season to the end. He added that the club will work hard to stay in the Gauteng Development League Stream A and to field strong teams in all divisions for the 2026 season. He reminded the young athletes to keep their focus on their final exams as well.

Luyanda Mntambo was named the U14 Player of the Season, Kathleho Mofokeng received the U15 Goalkeeper award, Ambrose Molife was honoured as the U17 Player of the Season, and Tshegofasto Mosweu took the U19 Player of the Season prize.

The day ended on a happy note, with families and players feeling proud of the season’s successes and looking forward to the challenges ahead.
