Sharpshooter Adriaan hits the mark

CTSASA shooter Adriaan Bester has quickly established himself as a standout competitor, earning national colours.

Adriaan Besters’ journey blossomed when he joined the Clay Target Shooting Association of South Africa (CTSASA) in 2022.

He is currently cementing his name among other professional shooters.

Clay target shooting, while not physically demanding in the traditional sporting sense, relies heavily on mental stamina. With all disciplines firing simultaneously, the ranges become a hub of intensity with shattered clays filling the air. These are skills Adriaan quickly grasped onto as he challenged himself not physically but mentally as well to achieve the best results.

This year, his commitment paid off when he earned Protea colours as a veteran competitor in the Down-the-Line (DTL) Trap, representing South Africa at the DTL European Championship in France.

His steady improvement across competitions reflects a deep understanding of the mental discipline required in clay target shooting, making him one of the many professional shooters to keep your eyes on.

According to CTSASA’s marketing manager Michelle dos Ramos, what sets Adriaan apart is not only his technical capability but his willingness to analyse, adapt, and improve with each event.

“Adriaan’s progression has been extraordinary to witness. From the moment he joined, he approached the sport with genuine passion and a drive to understand every layer of performance. Each season he comes back stronger, more focused and more determined. His recent achievements, including earning Protea colours, are the result of relentless dedication,” Michelle says.
