Young athletes shine at ASA Nationals
Fast Lane Athletics is currently in pre-season training and is now preparing athletes for school league competitions that take place at the beginning of the year.
Three young athletes from Fast Lane Athletics (FLA) have made their club proud by excelling at the recent Athletics South Africa Sub-Youth National Championships held at McArthur Stadium in Potchefstroom.
Top junior athletes from around the country came together at the event to showcase their skills and determination, achieving outstanding results even though the competition was tough.
Bonolo Chaane competed in the Girls U13 Long Jump and finished fifth overall in South Africa, placing her among the country’s top athletes in her age group.
Boitumelo “Tumi” Mothlale, who competed in the Girls U11 category, earned a national medal. She also ran a personal best during the championships and was part of the relay team that won a bronze medal.
Sihle Mdletshe represented the club in the Boys U11 Long Jump and finished fifth overall, competing confidently against the best young athletes in the country.
Long jump coach Ashwyn Adams praised the athletes for their effort and resilience.
“The weekend was a success because we never gave up,” Ashwyn said. “Bonolo made the final with her last jump, Sihle bounced back after a difficult start, and Tumi ran her personal best and earned a bronze medal in the relay.”
