Fitness and fun at Roodepoort’ 3rd parkrun of the year

The event saw 619 runners coming all together.

Roodepoort’s third parkrun of the year, held on Saturday, January 10, drew a contingent of 619 runners, all eager to tackle the 5km route.

Parkrun is one of the community’s long-standing events that offers community spirit, is pet-friendly, and welcomes runners/ walkers of all ages.

Nkosinathi Dlamini, Koketso Qina, and Siyamthanda Ngwayibanjwa took the first three top spots, running the route under 20 minutes. The first woman finisher was Cristina Karadimitriadis from Pirates Road Running Club, and she also ran her personal best in an impressive time of 22:57.

Eva Carson followed closely in 28:12, and Melisa McMahon wrapped up the women’s top three with 30:38.

The Roodepoort parkrun takes place every Saturday at 08:00 at Len Rutter Park in Florida Park. The event is free; all you have to do is register on www.parkrun.co.za, print out your barcode, and you are ready to become part of the parkrun community.
