Milestones galore during Human Rights Day parkrun
The weekly parkrun saw several milestones and personal bests.
Every Saturday morning, a milestone is recorded at the Roodepoort parkrun, and runners/ walkers and volunteers are always honoured on the honours board.
March 21 was no exception, with several athletes achieving notable milestones.
At the top of the board was Nthabi Leballo, who completed her 350th run. She started running the parkrun in 2015, and she describes herself as a parkrunner who runs marathons for fun.

“Parkrun has always been my favourite. I’m very excited and happy to have achieved this goal,” she said, adding that she’s part of the RunZone Running Club.
Keith van den Haar completed his 50th run, a milestone he said is worth its weight in gold.

“I started running two years ago, and reaching this goal took longer than expected because I got sick, fell, and got hurt during the process,” he said. He added that running has turned into something that he enjoys doing, and he always ensures that he shows up during his spare time.

Another runner who recently joined the community in May 2025 is Renee Steyn, who has an astonishing 25 runs.
“I feel very strong, healthy, and fit, and I feel like I can conquer anything,” she said, beaming with pride.
The event was attended by 307 runners and was made possible by 32 volunteers.
