Families enjoy fun colour run at Zeiss

The day was full of fun, colour, and excitement for everyone at the market.

The grounds at Zeiss Market were filled with colour and laughter on Saturday, March 21, as families gathered to take part in a fun Colour Run.

Families arrived in numbers to enjoy the last days of summer for just R20 per person, spending the day getting active and enjoying time together despite cloudy, rainy conditions in the morning.

According to organiser Marty Wright, the event was part of an effort to host at least one major community gathering each month. With no major holidays in March, the team opted for something different.

“We threw around a lot of ideas, and the Colour Run just felt right,” he said.

Participants wore old and comfortable clothing as they prepared for the 1km route around the garden. Before the run began, powder cannons released bursts of bright colour to set the mood.

Children’s faces were filled with excitement as they took part, with many participants playfully pouring powder over one another before setting off. Along the route, runners were able to enjoy the garden’s floral scenery while staying active.

“We wanted kids and families to come, have fun and enjoy the outdoors. It’s something everyone can join without spending a lot of money,” said Wright.

After the run, children enjoyed the water slide and trampoline, while parents browsed market stalls.

Zeiss Market plans to continue hosting similar events to ensure families and the wider community always have something to look forward to. The next Colour Run is scheduled for July 18, alongside a community fun day at the venue.
