The new building comprises six classrooms for Grade 1 to 3 pupils, a religious education room, aftercare centre, and a support centre with facilities for counselling, play therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy.
Primary school headmistress, Elizabeth Redmond, said they were happy with the new facilities and hoped they would have a huge impact on the lives of the pupils.
“We would like to thank everyone who helped us with this project. The children will now have proper facilities and a support centre,” she said.

Student Representative Council vice president, Mongapi Letsoalo said, “The new facilities will help us in the afternoons to study because there is not enough space in the library.” He also encouraged his fellow students to keep the new building clean by not littering or vandalising the facilities.
Yvonne Mfolo of the Anglo American Chairman’s Fund, said they were delighted to have played a part in building the new facilities and to further strengthen their relationship with the school. “One of the most important and immediate concerns of the fund is to raise the standard of education in South Africa because we realise that investing in education actually means we are investing in the future of the country,” she said.
Mfolo said education was a cornerstone in the attempt to further South Africa’s economic and social development growth.
