Past pupils, parents, teachers and children gathered in their numbers to reconnect, mark and celebrate Japari School’s 50th anniversary.
“A number of old Japarians spoke movingly of their time with us and how appreciative they were of their teachers and the school for helping them become the best they could be,” said school spokesperson Adri Basson.
Pupils of the school entertained the large audience with a number of performances which included a piano recital, a dance routine and a marimba band. Catering was provided, and everyone who attended received a beautiful engraved glass to take home as a memento of the special occasion.
“This gathering of old Japarians is probably the largest in our history and re-emphasised the incredibly important role that Japari plays in so many lives,” added Basson.
Headmaster of the school, Steve Rees said Japari was certainly delighted to be celebrating their golden jubilee and proud of all that has been achieved over the past 50 years.
Rees also thanked staff members who contributed to the success of the jubilee celebration. “An event of this nature would not be possible if it was not for our wonderful team who, once again, put in an enormous amount of work to ensure the evening was a success,” he said.
