Greenside High School principal Craigh Strauss won an honorary leadership award in the education category at the Forty Under 40 South Africa 2026 Awards recently held at The Houghton Hotel.
The awards are curated to identify, honour and celebrate a cross-section of the nation’s most influential and accomplished business leaders under the age of 40 from a wide range of industries, who are committed to business growth, professional excellence and community service, and have risen up the ranks of their companies or industries.
Strauss spoke to the publication on October 12 and explained how elated he was to walk away with the award.

“It is exciting and a reminder of where hard work can take you. Now that I have received an honorary award it still feels surreal because it was unexpected and is a huge award to receive for what I call my passion in education.”
Strengthening youth leadership
The principal noted that he was passionate about leadership programmes offered at the school.
“I take care of the leadership portfolio at school. We also do community service outreach programmes and wellness days where we talk about topical issues in society which I think are important in a child’s schooling career.”
