Old Eds cricketers star for Strikers

Two Old Edwardian society cricketers gave great performances when they joined the Highveld Strikers for their Pietermaritzburg tour.

The team played three-day and one-day games against KwaZulu-Natal.

The society’s Mike Dunk said, “In the three-day game, the Strikers bowled the home side out very cheaply. However, the whole of the second day was rained out, and on the third day they continued to reach 250/4 with Devon Conway scoring 74.”

The Strikers declared and asked the home team to bat again.

“At the stumps they were 74/4 with Richard das Neves taking 3/21 in the drawn match,” said Dunk.

“In the one-day game, the Strikers made 257/5 with Conway the main contributor again, this time with a superb 137.”

Dunk said KwaZulu-Natal had little in the way of a reply, and were bowled out for 156, with Das Neves taking 1/27 in his seven overs.

The Strikers won by 101 runs.
