After the Comrades marathon, road runners will be taking it easy for a while, but the annual Old Eds/HFPA road races, run in conjunction with Morningside Country Club Running club, will take place on Saturday 3 August, starting and finishing at the Old Eds club grounds.

AFTER the Comrades marathon, road runners will be taking it easy for a while, but the annual Old Eds/HFPA road races, run in conjunction with Morningside Country Club Running club, will take place on Saturday 3 August, starting and finishing at Old Eds club grounds.

Traditionally, the race has been seen as one of the first major events after Comrades, and is an ideal warm-up for the City2City Marathon. In addition to the usual 10km and 21km races, walkers will have their 10km walk for the third year.

This year, the Parents Association of King Edward Prep school will be organising a 5km Fun Run so, with the main races, the walkers and now the Fun Run, the whole family is catered for at this one event.

The main races have always attracted not only a large number of runners, but over the years they have been supported by some of South Africa’s top runners. There will also be the usual family entertainment during the course of the day.

One of the innovations on entering for this year’s event is that runners can now see how many times they have completed the race and their best times.
