Ton up for KES first team cricket captain

King Edward VII School first team cricket captain and Old Ed's Premier cricketer, Grant Roelofsen scored his maiden century in U19 international cricket.

This while leading the Coca-Cola South Africa U19s to a solid lead against England on day two of the first Youth Test in Cambridge on 2 August.

Roelofsen and captain, Sibonelo Makhanya shared a 135-run, fifth-wicket partnership before the latter’s innings was brought to an end for a well-played 56.

Roelofsen continued to forge ahead, taking the lead once more in his new partnership with Andile Phehlukwayo, who scored a half century from 66 balls before his dismissal in the 129th over.

A ball later, Roelofsen was denied a well-deserved 150 when he was caught behind for 149.

South Africa were 402/7 at that point, and Keith Dudgeon (16) and Stefan Klopper (14) managed a 30-run, ninth-wicket partnership before South Africa were bowled out for 433.
