Fight against rhino poaching, one million kilometers at a time

Since 2011 Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles have been providing support to the Wildlife Foundation Africa in the fight against rhino poaching.

In light of recent statistics indicating the dire situation, Volkswagen has renewed its sponsorship and support to the Wildlife Foundation Africa. The Forever Wild Initiative with the help of Volkswagen Amarok vehicles provides on-the-ground protection of rhino populations, rhino and wildlife crime syndicate investigation support, rhino DNA collection and supporting of K9 units.

All of the aforementioned takes place in South Africa’s rhino population hot spots in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Mpumalanga, North West, Eastern Cape and the Western Cape.

‘‘We are proud that for the past eight years, the Amaroks have driven more than one million kilometres protecting South Africa’s rhino population and are proud to continue supporting the important cause,“ – Andile Dlamini, Head of Volkswagen Group South Africa Communications.
