The partnership marks a major step for both Volt and South Africa’s growing padel community, with Minty bringing his trademark energy, professionalism, and influence to the fast-rising sport.

“I have always been passionate about sport,” said Minty, “and when padel started making its way into South Africa, I was immediately curious.

“What drew me in was how inclusive the game is. You can have fun, whether you are a beginner or a competitive player. My journey began on the courts in Johannesburg with friends, and, very quickly, I realised this was not just a passing hobby.”

Known for blending cutting-edge technology with sleek design, Volt Padel has gained international recognition for crafting high-performance rackets and apparel.

As part of the partnership, Minty will compete in tournaments and community events across the country, showcasing Volt’s latest equipment and apparel.

He explained that he has chosen to play with the Volt 1000 V5 racket, a favourite among professionals for its power and precision, as he works to elevate his game and inspire others to take up the sport.

For Minty, balancing a career in business, media, and now competitive sport, takes discipline.

“In business and media, I have learned that consistency compounds, and I approach padel with the same mindset. My schedule is busy, but padel is also a release for me. It clears my head and sharpens my focus.”

Representing Volt, Minty says, is both a personal and professional honour.

“It’s bigger than just wearing the kit; it’s about building padel’s identity in South Africa, and showing that we can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in the world.”

He believes South Africa is poised to become a regional hub for padel, with new courts springing up in Sandton, Waterfall, Pretoria, Cape Town, and Durban.

“People are falling in love with the sport, and I want to be more than just a player; I want to be an advocate.

By competing, hosting challenges, and using my platforms to tell the story of padel, I hope to inspire more South Africans to pick up a racket.”

His advice to young people chasing success in sport or business: “Start where you are, with what you have. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Create momentum by taking the first step.

Stay consistent, stay disciplined, and surround yourself with people who elevate you. The world is watching, so dream big, but also do the hard work that makes those dreams real.”
