17th annual Feather Awards gives attendees a night to pause, reflect, and celebrate bold living

A vibrant salute to authenticity, courage, and unapologetic living is exactly what the 17th annual Feather Awards were, setting Melrose Arch alight.

With a soulful reminder to pause, look, and listen to your heart, the 17th annual Feather Awards lit up Melrose Arch on November 6.

Hosted by the dynamic Khaya Dladla and Andiswa P Gebashe, alongside pink carpet favourites Penny Lebyane and Troy Malange, the night was a dazzling celebration of authenticity, creativity, and courage.

Known for honouring individuals who champion visibility and inclusivity, this year’s edition refined its format to balance legacy and fresh talent.

Seven honourees were recognised for their enduring influence, while the remaining awards spotlighted rising voices, shaping conversations across entertainment, media, and culture.

Co-founder Thami Dish said: “The Feather Awards have always been about more than glamour; it’s about reflection, authenticity, and courage. In a world rushing forward, this night invited everyone to slow down, reconnect with their truth, and live unapologetically.”

The entertainment lineup reflected that same spirit. The incomparable Lira opened the evening with a stirring performance that set an elegant tone. Donovan Yaards electrified the stage with his vibrant energy and dance moves, followed by a passionate performance from Lebo Toko Mathibe. Busiswa closed the show in true diva fashion, her signature beats turning the room into a dance floor.

Among the evening’s big winners were Malange (Hunk of the Year), Lilian Dube (Diva Extraordinaire), and Mzukisi Mbane (Designer of the Year). Nkosazana Daughter was named Musician of the Year, while Sports Personality of the Year went to Andile Dlamini. Gogo Skhotheni was crowned Socialite of the Year, and Mordecai Ngubane took home Best Styled Individual.

The night also honoured trailblazers making a real impact. Busiswa received the Fag Hag of the Year award, Lee-che Janecke was recognised as Role Model of the Year, and Netflix received the Media Award of the Year.
