Hyde Park High honours top achiever with prestigious Tres Honores Cum Laude award
From finding his footing in Grade 10 to earning full colours in three disciplines, one learner’s journey reflects determination, growth, and a commitment to excellence.
A senior leader at Hyde Park High School has been recognised with one of the institution’s highest accolades, celebrating excellence across academics, leadership, and extracurricular involvement.
Head prefect Harry Musuku was awarded the prestigious Tres Honores Cum Laude and received his coveted white blazer during the school’s end-of-term 1 formal assembly for 2026. The honour recognises learners who achieve full colours in three different spheres of school life, a rare accomplishment that reflects sustained dedication and all-round excellence. Harry earned full colours in academics, sound and lighting, and dramatics, demonstrating both academic strength and creative contribution to the school community.
Deputy principal Lawrence Nayager praised Harry for his character and commitment, highlighting the qualities that set him apart as a role model among his peers. He commended his integrity, strong leadership, and consistent academic performance, as well as his meaningful contributions behind the scenes in sound and lighting and on stage through dramatics.
Reflecting on his journey, Harry shared that he joined Hyde Park High School in Grade 10, describing the transition as challenging at first. “It was a new and unfamiliar environment, and I spent much of Grade 10 finding my bearings.” Determined to become more involved, he joined the rugby team that year, using sport as a way to connect with the school community. In Grade 11, he expanded his participation by joining the sound and lighting and dramatics teams, where he quickly excelled and earned full colours in both areas.

Harry credits a former teacher for encouraging him to aim higher. “A former teacher urged me to strive for my honours blazer, so I spent Grade 11 focusing on my academics. I achieved my full colours for academics in February this year.” Now wearing the school’s highest symbol of achievement, Harry hopes his journey will inspire others to stay focused on their goals. “Since then, I have told myself to never let time stand between me and my ambitions, and that is a message I would recommend everyone live by.”
