Safety tips for safe gas usage

JOBURG – Tips to ensure all is well when using gas heaters.


There’s nothing better than walking into your home after a bitterly cold day and turning on your gas heater. It’s warm as well as energy and cost-efficient but it is also extremely dangerous as it uses liquefied petroleum (LP) gas.

According to the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Association of Southern Africa, LP gas, which is used in domestic-use heaters and cooking instruments, is a mixture of propane and butane, together produces an extremely efficient and steady blue flame. This gas can be the cause of serious safety and security risks for the public and they should therefore always use it with caution.

CEO of the association Kevin Robertson stated that as great as gas can be, it does need to be used carefully. He has offered these safety tips to ensure that the public does exactly that.
