The year 2020 has been a year of reporting good and bad news.
The Sandton Chronicle reported on a number of municipal stories to keep the community well informed and engaged.
Number 1: Motorists warned of 12th Avenue bridge closure
In March this year, motorists were encouraged to find alternative routes due to the 12th Avenue bridge closure. Devonshire and Gemsbok roads were closed indefinitely resulting in motorists having to find alternative routes.
Number 2: Covid-19: Free tests being conducted across Joburg today
A mass testing drive by the City’s health department targeted people with coronavirus and flu symptoms, persons over the age of 60 and people with comorbidities in April this year.
Number 3: TAKE NOTE: Planned power interruptions set for Bryanston
City Power sent out notifications of a planned power interruption in June. The scheduled interruptions in the electricity supply will allow technicians to do essential maintenance work on the network.
Number 4: A great new fence from the residents of Bryanston
The substation on Logan Avenue had a facelift in January thanks to the residents of Moray Drive, Logan Avenue, Gremlin Road and Perth Avenue.
Number 5: Mbalula gives the all-clear at Sandton Licensing and Testing Station
The testing station was ready for business from 15 June. According to Minister Fikile Mbalula, the gradual reopening of the economy meant that people would return to work and more businesses would open.
