Gwen Nelson, who has been the main organiser of the event for numerous years said, “We had a fantastic opening ceremony, but as usual, lightning came and ruined the party.”

Nelson added that they had to abandon play at 20:30, and the netball has two rounds still to do from the day and will catch these up on the remaining nights.

“Cricket has two catch-up innings which will be played on Monday afternoon.”
