Sport celebrated at weekend for Michael Mount Waldorf School

The weekend delivered a plethora of sporting events, and learners witnessed an exceptionally successful and memorable showcase of athleticism.

The weekend at the Mafikeng Basketball and Volleyball Tournament from March 8–12 was just about wins for Michael Mount Waldorf School and a celebration of athleticism, determination, and the shared joy that sports bring to communities.

The echoes of cheers and the images of triumphant athletes would resonate in their memories, serving as a reminder of the magic that unfolded when passion met competition on the basketball field.

Michael Mount Waldorf School had a sporting weekend as their basketball teams participated in the Mafikeng Basketball Tournament.

School principal William Bester said that they are proud to share that their boys’ team remains the defending champions of the tournament, bringing home gold for the second year in a row.

“Our U19 girls also performed exceptionally well, taking home silver in their division. Special mention goes to Luca Amerseder and Lana Schreyer, who were named AllStar players, and Lufuno Musisidwa, who was named MVP.”

He explained that on March 10, their volleyball teams participated in the final leg of the Goliath Cup tournament, in which they have been participating since the start of the year.

“Our U16 girls won their division, taking gold, and the U14 and U19 girls’ teams both took silver.”

Bester said all their teams played their hearts out and represented their school with unwavering pride this weekend.

“What sets our learners apart is their teamwork, spirit, and joy for the game. We are incredibly proud of how our players represented Michael Mount Waldorf School this weekend and look forward to the tournaments yet to come in 2024. Special thanks must also be said to our dedicated coaches for their unwavering support of our students, both on and off the court.”
