Chaimlos FC welcomes sparring partners for Sunday Friendlies

The Sandton Sports Club home team prepares for the upcoming football league season.

In preparation for the upcoming Sandton Super League, Chaimlos FC was held to a 0–0 draw in a pre-season match against Mega FC played at George Lea Park on March 24.

Sandton Sports Club in Parkmore serves as the home side, Chaimlos’s, arena for sharpening their metal.

The match showed their preparedness against the visiting side, who brought the best. Mega FC came close to synching the first goal of the match in the early quarter of the first half.

Mega FC coach Richard Mtshali celebrated the opportunity to sharpen his team’s iron in a friendly against a team they will most highly face in the league.

“It’s more like a training session,” he said.

Chaimlos defences held, though revealing room for improvement. Chaimlos FC coach Khwezi Blose knows just what the team needs to focus on.

Chaimlos defender Kopano Sibanda thwarts a charge from Mega FC attacker Ade Balogun.

“I think our biggest problem is not having enough players or subs. As a result, we are putting players in positions they are not used to.”

Blose’s solution is to invite soccer lovers from Parkmore and surrounding communities to show up at the Sandton Sports Club and watch their games to see if joining the team might be something they would be interested in.

“They must come to watch; every Sunday we play at 10:00 – we’re always here. If they like it, they can also join.
“We play friendlies against different teams every weekend. It’s important for fitness so that we’re on top of our game at each game.”

Chaimlos hosts teams from across Gauteng to friendly matches ahead of the league, and on March 31, they will be welcoming the Fine Bouys to share their field.
