Kazoku Karate raises breast cancer awareness

Kazoku Karate, based in Bryanston, is a testament to the power of community and the impact that local organisations and clubs can have when they come together for a common cause.

Members of Kazoku Karate in Bryanston recently dedicated their time to raising awareness about breast cancer.

The dojo joined the global initiative with a series of activities and a fundraising drive.

The dojo encouraged its members to spread the word within their networks, reaching out to families, friends, and colleagues about the importance of breast health.

As part of the awareness campaign, all members were given a pink belt to wear during training sessions throughout the month.

Instructor at Kazoku Karate Jo da Fonseca said the pink belts symbolised the dojo’s commitment to breast cancer awareness and served as a visual reminder of the cause.

“We collaborated with the Breast Health Foundation (BHF) and we were able to provide valuable resources and information about breast health to the community,” he added.

He said the partnership helped equip the members with important knowledge that could be shared with others, raising further awareness about early detection and the impact of breast cancer.

“We are proud to have played a part in supporting the Breast Health Foundation and raising awareness about breast cancer. The response from our members has been amazing and we are grateful for their generosity which helped us raise over R3 000 for BHF’s ongoing educational programmes.”
