Reports of gunfire trigger emergency response in Sandown, Sandton

Emergency services responded to reports of shots fired on Katherine Street in Sandown, with motorists urged to avoid the area while authorities assess the situation.

Emergency services were dispatched to the Sandown area of Sandton following reports of gunfire on the afternoon of April 9.

According to an alert issued by the Gauteng Provincial Joint Operations Centre (JOC), an active incident involving shots fired was reported on Katherine Street at approximately 14:15. Emergency services were en route to the scene, and the public was advised to use alternative routes until the area is cleared.

Residents and motorists in the vicinity were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities by calling 10111 or using emergency safety applications where available.
