Riverclub resident Gaydrey Browne writes:

I’ve not had a great experience with City Power.  I’ve logged calls with specific information about an issue, a technician turns up a day later and doesn’t seem to know anything about the problem, and then the call gets closed.

I recently lost power, all three phases, to my house and went through the same frustrating process. The good news is that I found a great technical team and when I spoke to them, I realised that they are doing all they can under very difficult circumstances with a system that doesn’t support them.

When I logged the call with the information about the cable being faulty, the information did not get through to the technical team. They were simply told to come out to my house as there was no power.  I explained the history and that I have had no power for 48 hours, they were incredible. They came back the next morning and worked from 9.30am in the morning to 8.30pm that night when they were able to fix the cable and restore my power.

I’ve heard from a couple of their technical teams that they are working extra shifts, sometimes more than 12 hours at a time, because they are short-staffed. They also normally use subcontractors but there is an issue currently so there are no subcontractors working, just the City Power staff.

If anyone senior at City Power reads this, please fix the system so the technical teams get the correct information when they go out to work on the problem, and find a way so that the teams can work their normal shifts rather than 12 hours or more.

They are doing an incredible job in really tough circumstances. A huge thank you to the technical team for their dedication and support in making sure that they get the power back up as soon as possible.
