Tequila Sheilas edge out Happy Hackers in thrilling tournament clash

In a hard-fought battle under the sun, Tequila Sheilas triumphs over Happy Hackers with a 1-0 score.

The Masters Hockey Tournament at Morningside Country Club saw an exhilarating matchup on November 30, as the Tequila Sheilas secured a narrow 1-0 victory against the Happy Hackers.

With the temperature soaring, both teams fought valiantly, showcasing skill and teamwork throughout the match.

The first half was tightly contested, with neither team able to find the back of the net, ending in a stalemate at 0-0.

However, the second half proved decisive when captain of the Tequila Sheilas, Natashia van der Merwe struck gold, scoring the only goal of the game. “Today we had a tough game in the heat against a really good team. I’m excited for our win and scoring the goal felt amazing,” Van der Merwe said after the match.

Happy Hackers captain Jenny Walker reflected on her team’s performance despite the loss. “We lost the game 1-0 but we played well together as a team, we just couldn’t score the goals.

“It was our first time playing together, having only come together for practice yesterday, and each game will help us improve. Watch us next game,” Walker said, emphasising the importance of refining their passing and goal-scoring techniques moving forward.
