SEBOKENG.-  Zethembe Zwane (17) is a young artist destined to make a name for himself in the Maskandi music industry.

This young artist told Sedibeng Ster that his dream is to tour the world and perform on international stages.

He believes there is a serious need to promote Maskandi music internationally to show the world how proud South Africans are of their culture.

He told Sedibeng Ster that this is his biggest dream, for his music to be recognised not only locally but also internationally. Zwane said his passion for music started back in 2024. He is driven by a deep love for music, which he describes as his passion.

He told Sedibeng Ster that he writes his own songs and focuses on building his sound while still in school.

He said he wants a legacy in Maskandi music.

“I was born to be a musician, and this is my life. I use music to tell stories, and Maskandi is the best way to tell my story.  We must be proud of our culture and tradition as Africans. Maskandi music tells the world who we are without having to speak, and this is exactly what I’m going to do.

I believe not enough effort is being made to promote Maskandi music, especially among young people. Young people think Maskandi music is for old people, and I don’t blame them for thinking that.

Not many young artists sing Maskandi music. It is only a few of us, and this must change,” said Zwane.
