
Last year the event attracted over 4 000 patrons and this year a much bigger crowd is expected from all the corners of South Africa as ticket sales have shown that the majority of patrons are from outside of Vaal. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, one of the organisers, Jackie Chili said that Jazz on the River takes place during Tourism Month. Tourism Month is an annual celebration held in September to focus on the importance of tourism to the economy of South Africa under the theme: “Tourism for all.”

The line-up features a number of legends such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Vusi Mahlasela, Selaelo Selota and Ringo Madlingozi.
“Sharing the stage with these legends will be Zonke Dikana, Jaziel Brothers, Kelly Khumalo, Donald, and Presss. Saxfridge, 7th Chord and Bongani Jazzman Majola will add local flavour,” Chili said. Somizi Mhlongo, Letoya Makhene, Ordridge Dingalo & Thabiso Maphike (Thetha FM), Aubrey Moopeloa (Sedibeng FM) , Tefo Mothibedi (VUT FM) and Lefa Pheto will be driving the show. On the decks will be deejays, Finzo and Goddard. The gates will open at 10h00 and the show kicks off at 12h00.
Tickets are available at Computicket, Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper, House and Home, President Hyper and at selected OK Furniture and Usave. Tickets will be R220 for general access and R1 200 for VIP access. General access tickets will set you back by R250 at the gate. No pass outs will be issued, no glass bottles will be allowed. The event is sponsored Gauteng Tourism, Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture & Recreation, Scorpion Legal, Standard Bank and Carlsberg.
