The event marked the transition from planning to construction and introduced the development’s vision of expanding homeownership and investment opportunities for ordinary South Africans.

The ceremony brought together project representatives, government leaders and different stakeholders to recognise the start of the development and discuss its potential contribution to the area. Human Settlement MEC Tasneem Motara, Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Mayor Hassan Mako, Ward Councillor Mthuzimela Sikukula, and Masiza Heights developer Sylvester Martin were some of the speakers on the day.

Their speeches reflected a shared interest in the Sectional-title Open Market, community progress, and improved access to housing.

Masiza Heights Open Market Sectional Title Development is part of the Sebokeng Ext 28 Mega City Development, a continuous partnership between the private and public sector. The project, planned as a sectional-title open-market residential development, is intended to serve a broad range of buyers. Its target market includes first-time homebuyers, young professionals, growing families and property investors.

By providing another option in the local property market, the development aims to support people seeking a home of their own as well as those looking for opportunities to invest in property.

Meanwhile, Martin said that with construction now beginning, Masiza Heights aims to contribute to Sebokeng’s ongoing development by creating opportunities for ordinary South Africans to own homes and invest in property.

The project also includes an SMME hub, public hall, a revamped Kwa-Masiza Stadium and taxi rank.
