Members of the South African Police Service’s Transnational Investigation and Crime Intelligence Units this weekend found another stash of drugs, cocaine weighing 4,5 kilogrammes, abandoned inside the toilet of a flight that had just landed from Sao Paolo, Brazil. The drugs were found on Saturday afternoon during a routine search by the team operating at the OR Tambo International Airport. The drugs are valued at R1,3 million. The courier was not found.
The latest find comes just a week after the same team managed to intercept another unclaimed bag of drugs, a massive 27 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine valued at R8 million, which was retrieved from a flight that had just landed from Abu Dhabi in the Middle East. The drugs were in a passenger bag that was not collected. All of these drugs have been sent to the forensic services of the SAPS for further analysis and the police are still investigating.
