An invite to a braai turned into a nightmare for a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by two men on her way home.

An invite to a braai turned into a nightmare for a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by two men on her way home.
According to Ikageng SAPS spokesperson, Const. Kelebogile Trom, the minor says a friend invited her to a braai in Ikageng on Saturday night. She, a cousin and two other female friends met other guests at the braai, had few drinks, and enjoyed them- selves.
At 20:00, her cousin left with her boyfriend and the victim decided to stay behind. She and another friend called it a day just after 03:00 on Sunday morning. Two males who were also at the braai followed them home, insisting that they wanted to see them home safely.
“They were talking to her friend but she did not participate in the conversation because she did not know them. At around 03:30, when they were on the street corner, one of the men grabbed her hand and she panicked. She screamed for her friend to help her but, instead, the latter turned and ran away, leaving her with the two men.
One of the men threatened her with a knife, pulled her into the shadows and both took turns in raping her be- fore sending her home,” Trom reported.
Trom issued another stern warning to young girls to avoid walking home alone in the dark and allowing strangers to take them home.
The Ikageng police are still searching for the suspects.
