The tenacity of an investigating officer has been applauded after a 25-year-old murderer has finally been put behind bars. Mdudusi Deyi was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in the Oberholzer magistrates’ court on 6 June. The accused stabbed the victim with a knife at Kusasalethu Mine in Elandsrand at around 19:00 on 25 May. He was arrested and granted bail but failed to return to court for the hearing. The investigating officer Sgt Jacque Nagel applied for a warrant of arrest and traced the accused to the Eastern Cape. Deyi was brought before the court in Carletonville where he was sentenced. The Carletonville station commander, Brig. Theron applauded the member for going the extra mile in pursuit of justice. “The member is considered an asset to the SAPS and his commitment never goes unnoticed. “Keep up the good work,” Theron said.
