The Estcourt Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences Unit together with Winterton Police are appealing to the public to help them trace the whereabouts of a man who is wanted for questioning in an abduction, assault and rape case. On 16 July 2016 at about 20:45, it is alleged that S’bongiseni Vumani Ntshangase (24) entered the house of a 23-year-old woman at Khethani location. He raped the woman and during the incident, she was assaulted with a spade. Later the same day at about 22:00, Ntshangase along with two others were involved in the abduction of a 35-year-old woman in the same area. The woman was taken, assaulted and placed in a blue coloured two-door vehicle, make unknown.
The vehicle broke down near the N3 and two of the suspects then left to get assistance. At this time the woman managed to escape from the vehicle and seek help from police. Ntshangase is known to have family in Driefontein, near Ladysmith as well as Ezakheni. He is currently on the run from police and may be hiding somewhere in the country.
