Children hospitalised after being bitten by donkey

MOOILANDE. - The residents of Mooilande plot 45 just outside Three Rivers say they fear for the safety of their young ones after three children aged eleven, five and  three  were bitten by a donkey on three different occasions. 

 

According to the parents, the donkey poses a great danger to the kids as two of them ended up in hospital following the incident.  The mother of the three-year-old said that she is grateful that he daughter is still alive after the donkey picked her up, threw her to the ground and stepped on her.

According to the parents, the owner has refused to do anything about the donkey on three various occasions. “He told us that we must go and press charges against the donkey and see if it will appear in court.”

The  owner of the donkey who also resides on the plot has since declined to comment on the matter. Vereeniging police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda advised the parents to open  a case with the Vereeniging SAPS.

“A case has been opened and the owner of the donkey will be charged with   negligence and allowing an animal to cause injury. Investigations into the matter are ongoing. The owner might ultimately be charged and arrested.”
